Dan Biernacki has been a CCFB Board of Director since 2008. He became involved in CCFB by joining the Commodities/Marketing Team in 2005 when the Board reorganized the Committee’s to involve more members. Since becoming Vice Chairman of the Team, he has been very active in the group’s activities including the Giant Pumpkin Contest and farm marketing focus. Dan and his wife, Karen, have two adult daughters.
James “Jim” Bloomstrand
Jim Bloomstrand has been been a member of the CCFB Board of Directors since 2013. Bloomstrand is the Chairman of the Cook County Farm Bureau Member Relations Team, a past member of the Ag Literacy Team, and an Ag in the Classroom presenter. Bloomstrand and his wife, Kathy, reside in Hoffman Estates and have an adult son.
Elizabeth "Beth" Christian
Beth was elected to the Cook County Farm Bureau Board of Directors in 2016. Beth grew up on a fifth generation farm in Bureau County and was a 4-H member for a number of years and she is an active participant in the farming operation today. She has served on the Ag Literacy team for eight years and has been quite active in educating students during Ag Days and other public outreach programs. She has a PhD in Early Childhood Education Development. She is a graduate of the Agricultural Leaders of Tomorrow program. Beth is a proud mother of three children and enjoys outdoor adventures.
Roger Freeman was elected to the Cook County Farm Bureau Board of Directors in 2016. He was born and raised on a farm in Kirkland, Illinois, was involved in Future Farmers of America and he still owns the family farm. Roger has been involved in the Commodities/Marketing Team for 10 years. He has entered the Giant Pumpkin Contest many times and has won with the largest pumpkin on two occasions. He also owns and manages a fencing company in Brookfield. Roger enjoys fishing and hunting. He is married to Sue and has three adult sons.
Jim Gutzmer has been a member of the CCFB Board of Directors since 1999 and served as President from 2011 to 2017. Jim, along with his wife, Karen, operated a roadside vegetable stand in north Cook County. In addition to his on-farm role, Jim is a retired ComEd employee. Jim is Chairman of the Cook CFB Member Relations Committee. Jim and Karen have two adult children.
Pat Horcher has been a member of the CCFB Board of Directors since the mid-90's and has served as Secretary/Treasurer from 2011 to 2016. He is the Chairman of the Activator Committee. He and his family own Horcher’s Country Flowers in Wheeling where they grow annuals, perennials and vegetables in greenhouses and on the family homestead. Pat and his wife, Stacey, have two adult children.
Gerald “Gerry” Kopping
Gerry Kopping has been a member of the CCFB Board of Directors since 2004 and serves as the Chairman of the Commodities and Marketing Team. Gerry along with his family operate Kopping Farms where they board 110 horses, farm 600-acres, custom farm 100-acres, and raise 35-head of cattle. Gerry and his wife, Linda, have three children.
Janet McCabe has been a member of the CCFB Board of Directors since 2011 and has recently been appointed President of the Board of Directors. She and her husband, Joe, farm corn, soybeans and hay in south Cook County. In addition to her on-farm role, Janet is a Registered Nurse and has been practicing for over 30 years. Janet and Joe have two adult children.
Mike Rauch has been a member of the CCFB Board of Directors since 2003 and has served as Vice-President since 2011. Mike raises corn and soybeans in south Cook County and has been active in agriculture for the past 35 years. Mike serves as Vice Chairman of the Ag Literacy Team and is a member of the Public Relations Team. Mike has four adult children.
Tim Stuenkel was raised on a corn, soybean and hog farm in Cook County, Illinois and actively farms the family farm in the Matteson area with his family. He is the Global Marketing Communication Manager at TeeJet Technologies, a leading global manufacturer of crop protection application and precision farming equipment based in Wheaton, IL. Stuenkel has served in various roles since joining the company in 2000. He has been a member of the Cook County Farm Bureau® Speakers Bureau since its inception in 2013. Stuenkel is also an active volunteer with the Cook County Farm Bureau® Public Relations Team is Chairman of the Agriculture Literacy Team. Stuenkel is also a graduate of the Illinois Agricultural Leadership Foundation, Class of 2012 and the Agricultural Leaders of Tomorrow Program. He currently resides in Aurora.
Mark Yunker has been a member of the CCFB Board of Directors since 2001. He and his wife, Heidi, grow corn, soybeans, wheat, hay and straw in Frankfort. In addition to Farm Bureau leadership, Mark serves as the Treasurer for St. Johns Cemetery. Mark is a member of the Ag Literacy Team. Mark and Heidi have two adult children.
Ruth Zeldenrust has been a member of the CCFB Board of Directors since 2013 and currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer. Ruth is Chairman of the Public Policy Team and a member of the Cook CFB Political Action Committee. In addition to her involvement in Farm Bureau, Zeldenrust also served on the board for the Lansing Christian School and graduated in the 2014 Class of the IL Agricultural Leadership Program, an executive leadership program. Zeldenrust is the owner and operator of Zeldenrust Farm Market which a third generation family-business that started on Stoney Island in the 1930s. Ruth has five adult children and eight grandchildren. She is also a beekeeper.
